Whether it's the setting sun creating ghostly outlines of the Rocky Mountains' eastern slopes near Canmore, Alberta (above), or a creek flowing softly over fallen autumn leaves, the Canadian Rockies have long captured the imagination of explorers, visitors, First Nations peoples and other residents. Freelance photographer, Jason Krausert's goal is to use photography to capture the beauty, power and quiet majesty of nature, as well as to learn about and experience life through his photo documentary projects.

Jason lives in Canmore, 100 kilometres west of Calgary, Alberta at the gateway to the Canadian Rocky Mountains. He received a diploma in photojournalism from Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario in 2005. After graduating, he worked as the staff photographer at The Daily Graphic newspaper in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba for 18 months before moving to Canmore to pursue a freelance career. While in college, Jason had photos published by the Ottawa Citizen and the Vancouver Sun newspapers, and he was awarded the Eastern Canadian News Photographers Association's Vision Award in 2004.

Jason is currently pursuing freelance contracts for both his nature and documentary projects, and is also available for portrait and commercial assignments. Please feel free to contact him for prices or to discuss possible assignments or collaborations at:
