Art of Austin Sloan

Saltiel is Canadian born at Toronto, Ontario, in 1948. She studied at THE ART CENTRE of Central Technical School, Toronto, from 1962-66. This was an art education of classical depth. After graduation, Saltiel worked as a commercial artist, designing and hand cutting silk screens for souvenir items. Later, she adapted these skills to creating hand made serigraphs. Following her marriage to Bill Marshall, in 1969, the couple toured Europe. After which they lived for a year, in Brighton, England. In addition to commercial art employment there, Saltiel painted and exhibited in London. Their move to Banff, in 1972, marked the beginning of her full time painting career. Saltiel Originals, the family business of publishing and distributing reproductions of her art, was established in 1973. Working in a home studio has promoted the discipline of independent work and was conducive to caring for daughters, Denise, born in 1975, and Laura, born in 1978.
